Or, not?

Finally. Apple presents the iPad. Today. Just now.
And…. it it worth waiting for?

The iPad is a half-inch thick and weighs just 1.5 pounds, with a 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS LCD display, and it’s running a custom 1GHz Apple “A4″ chip, with a 10-hour battery life and a month of standby. It’ll come in 16, 32, and 64GB sizes, and it’s got the expected connectivity: very little.

So. Disappointing? Don’t get me wrong: I am really and Apple admirer. Long owner of a iPhone, now owner of a Macbook, so really, I try to look at this positively. Looking at it, it just looks out of balance: The width-height ratio looks a bit strange. It really is a stretched iPhone, but not with fixed ratio. So, looks a bit wide…in a ugly way. And, what’s with the enormous black raster around the screen? Really takes up lot of space, probably filled to get the 10 hours of battery time. The technical specs are also not mind breaking.

And, how to use this. Apple says ‘the iPad is the best web surfing experience’ , ‘ the best email experience’ , ‘the best photo and movie watching experience’, ‘it is going to change the thing we do the way we do every day’.
Well, I have serious doubts about this.

Okay, of course, we didn’t have any hands on experience with this. But, looking at the specs and design I would not put my money on this one….. It will be successful and admired by the Apple hardcore fans, but let just say that this is not love at first sight.

This feels right, Apple says. Holding the tablet in your hand. And, that might be an interesting thing. A bit of open door to success. Again, a fun and showing off tool rather than added value tool. But, it this not applicable for all gadgets and will this still be a enormous success?
